SCOTT STANKEY BIO

Scott Stankey Graduated California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a 5 year professional Bachelors of Architecture degree including specialized coursework in project management and 3d design and visualization.

In 1995, while working as an Architect and Project Manager at RRM Design Group, San Luis Obispo, CA, Scott spent his spare time pursuing his interest in filmmaking, visual design, and editing.   In an effort to combine his love for design and architecture with a passion for filmmaking, Scott founded ArchFX Production Studio in 1996 with his friend and fellow CalPoly graduate Vaughan Miller.   Now located in Ventura, California, It was this studio, specializing in 3D-animation, editing, and effects that provided a pipeline where Scott could create and produce a cinematic quality product.

With a background heavy in design and over 12 years of technical experience, Scott was able to develop many talents including digital non-linear editing, three-dimensional modeling, graphic design, motion graphics, and content creation for both dvd and film.   His work at ArchFX Production Studio includes award winning short presentations, small commercial/sports productions, and marketing/documentary productions including animation, film, video, motion graphics, and audio compilation and score.

Scott has acquired extensive management skills including the experience and abilities to successfully start-up and operate a company from initial concept to profitability.   With a passion to further hone his filmmaking skills, Scott partnered with friend and experienced surf cinematographer/director Josh Landan to create Thirty Four Films, LLC, based in their hometown of Ventura, CA.   This alliance led to Scott's first surf genre début as Producer and Editor of "Yield", a high action surf film, which was released by Thirty Four Films in September 2003 with great success including a nomination for "Best Male Performance" at the 2003 Surfer Poll and Video Awards.   Other related works include editor/producer/DVD content creator for the 2004 short film, "Sammurdok, a biographical documentary"(a production by Keith Malloy, Scott Stankey, and Josh Landan), and the 2005 Channel Islands Surfboards promotional DVD (directed/edited/filmed).

Focusing much of his efforts to the filmmaking side of his companies, Scott has quickly gained respect for himself among his peers and with the athletes and professionals he has collaborated with.   Coming off the worldwide success of "Yield" and with the drive, dedication, and support of Thirty Four Films, Scott has positioned Thirty Four Films to be an integral part of leading the next generation of surf film makers and plans to do just that as producer/writer/editor of his new documentary film based on the lives and unparalleled history of the Channel Islands Surf Team and their surfboard maker Al Merrick, "FLOW, the true story of a surfing revolution".
